- 1>- A problem in the phonebook module that was causing a drop to
- DOS after five number re-dials has been fixed.

- module that will help when using DOS 5.0.

- 4>- A problem of dropping to DOS when un-zipping files with embedded
- self-extracting zip files has been fixed.

- Updates and changes to version 6.1.0

- 1>- The Phonebook module now creates and maintains three different
- support files for each database (*.GPD, *.GRD, *.GND). Due to
- this change, data files created with earlier versions are no
- longer compatable. A conversion utility will be shipped with
- registered versions that allow converting old phonebook files
- to the new format.

- 2>- In the phonebook module, there are now two phone number fields
- and both number fields will accept up to 17 characters,
- previously the number field was only 14 characters long.

- 3>- In the phonebook module, the ability to add a free form note
- with up to 159 lines of text can be tagged to each record.
- This can be done simply by highlighting a record and selecting
- the 'Note' Icon button.

- NOTE !! This 'Note' Icon works in two different ways, If the
- highlight bar is at bottom of file, selecting the 'Note'
- Icon will take you to the calendar notepad where you can
- edit or change notes tagged to a particular calendar
- date. If you have a phonebook record highlighted and
- then select the 'Note' Icon, you will be taken to a note
- editor that will allow editing a free form note tagged
- to the highlighted record.

- 4>- fastmenu GOLD can now be instructed to drop to DOS after executing
- an application or batch file. To do this, at the Run File field
- simply add a carat character (^) and then the letters 'DROP'
- immediately after the executable filename.
-
- EXAMPLE: Run File: DOSSHELL^DROP
-
- The above command would execute the DOS shell application and
- uppon exit of the DOS shell you would be dropped to DOS and
- fastmenu GOLD would not re-start.
-
- 5>- In the Setup Module, a new option can be found under the default
- program parameters option that will allow setting up the automatic
- execution of an application or batch file at startup.
-
- 6>- In the Setup Module, a new option can be found under the default
- program parameters option that allows editing or changing the
- prompt that is displayed when asked to enter a command line parm.
-
- 7>- In the DOS/Disk Utility Module, A new option 'ZIP Menu' has been
- added that provides a complete archive file (ZIP) utility.
-
- NOTE !!! For the following options to work, you must have a copy
- of PKWare's archiving utilities (PKZIP.EXE, PKUNZIP.EXE,
- PKZIPFIX.EXE, and ZIP2EXE.EXE). These four utilities
- must be copied to a directory on your system that is
- included in your PATH statement.

- OPTIONS INCLUDE:

- * Zip or archive selected/tagged files from a file pick list menu
- to any drive or directory.
-
- * Convert a Zip file to a self extract EXE file.
-
- * Un-Zip an archived file (ZIP or EXE) to any drive or directory.
- If only one ZIP file is selected, you are presented with a list
- of all files contained in the ZIP file from a pick list menu
- where you may tag single, multiple, or all files in the ZIP for
- extracting.

- * View a Zip file, displaying all file information.
-
- * Test a Zip file for corrupt information.
-
- * Fix a Zip file if found to be corrupted
-
- 8>- The Exit Icon, from the main menu, now allows entering multiple
- commands at the Run File field when re-assigning this Icon.
- After executing these commands, fastmenu GOLD will then drop to
- DOS.

- 9>- In the Setup Module, a new option (I>- Prompt Before & After
- Execution (On/Off)). During execution of an application,
- fastmenu GOLD displays a user prompt message telling the user
- the name of the application being executed, after exiting the
- application, another prompt message is displayed telling the
- user, Returning to fastmenu GOLD Please Wait !!. These prompts
- can be turned off with this option.

- 10>- An option has been added that allows getting rid of the annoying
- prompt "Can't find FAST1234.BAT file" when exiting fastmenu GOLD.
- This prompt only shows up at times when the users system is running
- a DOS system other than MS-DOS or PC-DOS.
-
- Placing a file named "FAST1234.IFO" in the GOLD directory will
- cause fastmenu GOLD to not remove the FAST1234.BAT file.

- 1>- Due to interference with the user input editor, the End Icon has
- been changed to a Tab Icon.
-
- 2>- In the Directory/File utility module, two new Icons have been
- added, 'Home & End'. Pressing the Home Icon will return the
- highlight bar to the top of the directory or files list. Pressing
- the End Icon will move the highlight bar to the end of the
- directory or files list.
-
- 3>- A Sort Icon has been added to the Directory tree list screen,
- pressing this sort icon will give you the option to sort or not
- to sort the directory tree structure.
-
- 4>- A new Icon has been added to the files list screen, pressing this
- icon will give you options to sort the files list in any of four
- ways 'file name, file extension, file size, file dates'. You
- may also select to sort in a assending or desending order. Sorting
- a list of over 400 files takes only around one second, on a 33 mhz
- machine.

- 5>- A problem was found in the calendar notepad that was causing some
- problems printing on various printers. This has been fixed.
-
- 6>- In the Phonebook module, a new Icon has been added 'R'. Pressing
- this new Icon will re-dial the last number dialed.
-
- 7>- In the Phonebook module, if you select to dial a number when the
- highlight bar is at bottom of file, a editor input field will be
- presented for you to manually enter a number for dialing.
-
- 8>- In the Phonebook module, after you have selected to dial a number,
- and after the dialer has completted the dialing, the dialer goes
- on standby mode and allows you to enter additional numbers or
- dial tones for communicating with tone responce auto answering
- machines. Pressing the space bar will close the comm port and
- return you to the phone list.

- 9>- In the Calendar NotePad module, a new Icon has been added to the
- note editor 'F7=Dial'. This new option allows the user to dial
- a phone number through your modem. Pressing this Dial option will
- present the user with a window for manualy entering a number to
- dial or you may mark any number listed in the current note, using
- the block marking method and then select the Dial option to dial
- the marked number.

- 10>- The User Log file has been rearranged to provide for more detailed
- information and allow for better report generation capabilities.
-
- 11>- In the Edit Applications module, at the Run File field, you must
- now enter the file extensions (.BAT, .COM, .EXE) allong with the
- executable file name that run's the application.
- This option allows for selectively executing a application that
- may have the same executable filenames but with different file
- extensions such as 'TELIX.EXE or TELIX.BAT'.

- 12>- In the Disk/Directory module, a new Icon has been added to the
- file list screen that allows re-setting the attributes for a file
- 'Attribute'. Selecting this option can only be done if you have
- the attributes list option from the Disk/Directory module opening
- menu, turned on.

- 1>- Any mouse movement at the main menu will reset the timer and
- prevent going into screen blanking during mouse activity.

- 2>- The user now has the ability to password protect re-assigning
- the function key and exit icons. This option can be accessed
- through the Setup menu.
-
- 3>- The user now has the option to turn off the logo display during
- screen blanking. This option can be accessed through the Setup
- menu.
-
- 4>- A new icon has been added to the upper right screen 'End'. This
- icon can be used to send fastmenu GOLD immediately into screen
- blanking from almost any location in the program. If user ID
- and logging is setup, this option gives the user a means of
- ending his activity and logging off the system. NOTE ! This
- option is not available during any user input screens so as to
- prevent any possible data loss.

- 5>- A complete user ID and logging system has been added to fastmenu
- GOLD. Up to 60 users can be assigned different passwords for
- access and all activity can be setup for logging. This option
- can be accessed through the Setup menu.

- 6>- Two new Icons have been added to the Calender NotePad module
- that allows decreasing or advancing the calender year.
-
- 7>- A new Icon has been added to the Calender NotePad module that
- allows tagging groups of notes for deleting.
-
- 8>- In the Edit Applications module during listing and selecting
- the run file from the scrolling menu, the file extention is
- now included with your selection and can now be included at
- the run file field.

- 9>- A new Icon has been added to the main menu '?'. When selecting
- this new Icon, you are displayed the current version number and
- the date of realease. The registered version also will show
- registration information from this Icon.
-
- 10>- fastmenu GOLD will now look for a file named 'INSTEAD.BAT' and
- if this file is found in the GOLD directory, fastmenu GOLD will
- execute it instead of going into screen blanking. This batch
- file can then be used to execute another application such as a
- picture file show or presentation application and then upon
- exit, return to fastmenu GOLD.

- Updates and changes to version 4.6.0

- 1>- A full featured calendar notepad module has been added that is
- accessed through the F2 function key. This calendar notepad
- includes a full screen perpetual calendar with point and click
- date change, the ability to post a free form note with up to
- 53 lines of text on any calendar date, visual alarm will be
- present at the main menu if a note is present for the current
- day, the ability to send all notes to your printer by year,
- month, week, or day. The note pad editor is a full featured
- text editor that allows cut and paste from note to note.

- 2>- A problem with the Fax/Text file editor of adding extra blank
- lines to a text file has been corrected. Also in this editor
- when using the scroll bar pointers to scroll text, a invalid
- call would sometimes result, this has been fixed.

- 3>- In the Setup module, a new option that allows selecting the
- default path to store notes in, has been added.
-
- 4>- Using the F8 function key to exit fastmenu GOLD now makes a
- clean exit and drops fastmenu GOLD totally out of system memory,
- leaving all system memory available for your applications.
- NOTE ! Now after this type of exit, type 'GOLD' to return to
- fastmenu GOLD instead of typing 'EXIT'.

- 1>- fastmenu GOLD now provides the user with up to 20 different 3D
- fonts that can easily be selected through the Setup module.
- Currently only 12 font files are available and are included with
- this version.

- 2>- In the Setup module, all system passwords are now edited through
- a single menu.

- 3>- In the Setup module, you may now create up to ten timed events.
-
- 4>- In the Setup module, new options have been added that allow
- setting up default Path & File Specifications that the Fax/
- text file editor uses.

- 5>- Added the ability to re-assign the F9 function key Icon and
- the ability to password protect it.

- 6>- In the Edit Applications module, added an option (View) that
- display the actual batch file that fastmenu GOLD creates when
- you execute the application. This option will allow users that
- are experienced in batch file commands, the ability to see if
- any changes to the Drive/Directory/Run File fields would result
- in a more efficient execution and will also show if any possable
- problems exist.

- 7>- In All Modules, User input routines now have a full featured text
- editor with the following key actions.

- Delete............ Deletes character at cursor location.

- Home.............. Moves cursor to beginning of text.

- End............... Moves cursor to end of text.

- Insert............ Toggles insert mode on/off.

- BkSpace........... Moves cursor left destructive.
-
- Right Arrow....... Moves cursor right.
-
- Left Arrow........ Moves cursor left.
-
- Shift+Right Arrow. Moves cursor right full field.
-
- Shift+Left Arrow.. Moves cursor left full field.

- Enter............. Excepts text.
-
- Alt+C............. Clears field.
-
- Alt+R............. Recalls original text.
-
- This text editor is also mouse sensitive. Clicking the left
- mouse button anywhere on the text field, will move the cursor
- to that location.
-
- At all Run File fields in the Main module, Edit Applications
- module, and the Setup module, these fields are scrollable fields
- and allows up to 255 characters. They can be scrolled by holding
- the left or right arrow keys down or placing the mouse cursor on
- the last or first character in the field and then holding the
- left mouse button down.
-
- 8>- In the Main Module (Setting up alternate applications for the
- function keys), the Edit Applications (Adding an application),
- and the Setup Module (Timed application execution). All Run
- File fields now allow having multiple commands that ask for a
- command line parm. Answer the Parameters (Y/N) with a 'Y' And
- place a '+' character after each command you want fastmenu to
- ask for command line parameters.

- NOTE ! Due to this new option, you will need to add the '+'
- character after each command you want user parameters
- asked for even if you only have one command at the
- Run File field.

- 9>- At the Main Menu, a new option has been added that allows the
- user to toggle between the 3D fonts or flat fonts.

- 10>- In the DOS/Disk utility module, when returning to the directory
- tree screen, the last viewed directory will returned highlighted.
-
- 11>- In the DOS/Disk utility module, after Viewing or Renaming a file
- the list will return with the same file highlighted.
-
- 12>- In the DOS/Disk utility module, progress report prompts have been
- added to the file copy and file delete routines.
-
- 13>- In the System Setup module, the password log viewer has been
- updated to list up to 2100 entries. A warning prompt will now appear
- if this file has more than 2000 entries in it.

- 14>- In the System/Configuration module Info Screen, the available drives
- prompt has been increased and a scrollable list of all drives, size,
- and free space has been added. This list now also includes the A
- and B drives along with all hard drives.

- 15>- All Yes/No prompts in all modules have been changed to Icons.

- 16>- In the Main Menu module, the applications are now accessed by
- pressing letter keys instead of number keys.

- 17>- In the Main Menu module, the Setup Module is now accessed by
- pressing the 'Y' key.

- 18>- In the Main Menu module, the Edit Applications module is now
- accessed by pressing the 'Z' key.

- 19>- In the Main Menu module, a return to the Folder Titles page is
- accomplished by pressing the 'ENTER' Key.

- is now accessed by pressing the '=' Key.

- 21>- A full VGA mode Fax/Text file editor has been included and is
- accessed by pressing the 'F7' key. This key previously accessed
- the system information screen that is now available in the System
- Utility module.

- 22>- The calculater will now devide by numbers less than 1.

- 23>- In the Edit Applications module, the directory listing routine
- accessed by pressing the PgDn key will now list directories up
- to seven deep. Only five deep could be listed before.

- 24>- In the Phone Book module, a number can be dialed simply by
- clicking your right mouse button on an entry.

- 25>- In the Phone Book module, you may now enter the macro editor
- while at the Phone Number field.

- 26>- In the DOS/Disk Utility module, the volumn label is also
- copied during a single pass disk copy.

- 27>- The prompts that are displayed during file Delete & Copy have
- been completly changed to improve status and user interface.

- 28>- The Main Menu module is now completly droped from memory during
- execution of the DOS/Disk Utility module. This leaves more
- memory available for running applications and accessing the new
- VGA word Processor.

- 29>- In the DOS/Disk Utility module, you may now create/edit/read
- directories with extensions.

- 30>- Two types of files may now be displayed during screen blanking:

- 1>- 'BEFORE.BAT' If this file is found in the fastmenu
- GOLD directory, it will be executed just before screen
- blanking.

- 2>- 'AFTER.BAT' If this file is found in the fastmenu
- GOLD directory, it will be executed just after screen
- blanking.

- NOTE !! This file MUST be a VGA mode (640x480)
- application.

- 'OPENING.SCR' If this file is found in the fastmenu GOLD
- directory, it will be displayed during startup.

- NOTE !! This file must be a PCX 640x480 16 color
- picture file re-named to 'OPENUNG.SCR'.

- 31>- Added the ability to include up to four lines in the logo file.

- 32>- Added the ability to set a default path for the phonebook/dialer
- to use for storing data files. This option is found in the Setup
- module under Set Default System Paths.
